Please note that while we cannot help with individual problems with the Aetna Medicare Advantage plan, we are interested in learning about those problems.
You may be able to get help from the following sources:
If you are a member of our Connecticut State Employees Association (SEIU) retiree union, Kevin Sullivan (ksullivan@csea760.com) will contact Aetna directly about problems with the plan. These include contacting a provider who had turned down your insurance to try to convince them to take it; help with denials of preauthorizations; and being put on a Do Not Call list to stop unwanted Aetna calls. He can also sign you up for the union. Dues are $5 monthly and come out of your pension check.
The Center for Medicare Advocacy in Willimantic is the Connecticut affiliate of the national Center for Medicare Advocacy, a private, non-profit advocacy organization which helps people with Medicare and Medicare Advantage problems. It has information on its website, and it will contact on your behalf the State of Connecticut’s Comptroller with complaints about the Aetna Medicare Advantage plan and perhaps be able to help.
