The Kaiser Family Foundation has a very useful study of state employee retiree medical insurance benefits. It indicates that Connecticut is one of only thirteen states that do not give their state employee retirees a choice between traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans.
There have been attempts in a several other states and municipalities to replace traditional Medicare with privatized Medicare Advantage plans, as in Connecticut. Retiree opposition stopped them in the State of Washington, New York City, and Delaware. Retirees are fighting an attempt in Vermont.
